Desktop wallpapers are the first thing a user sees when they sit down at the computer for work or play. They bring color to a black and white world especially for the office worker who has to stare at words or crunch numbers all day. There are numerous usages for wallpaper, mostly as decoration. Space wallpapers provide some of the most interesting designs someone can find for their desktop. The universe is full of different colored stars and planets captured on clear and dark nights with only the stars illuminating the sky. Most people have never even seen the sky without some form of artificial light marring the view, what better way to bring back some of the wonder the ancients felt than with a nice space wallpaper. The entire idea of space itself is immense and inspiring. All the time people talk about reaching for the stars, with space wallpaper the user needs only reach a few inches in front of them to touch the cosmos. The solar system is a timeless wonder that is both contemporary and classic. Space wallpaper is nothing like the old style Windows screen savers shooting through small dots on the screen. Instead of being stylized, many of the stars and comets depicted are what someone could see with the naked eye without all the light pollution.
When you are designing a room, most times you do not have the option of making the room physically larger, but what you can do is add visual space and make the room appear larger than it actually is. Using wallpaper to affect the look of your rooms size is an effective way to use this decorating medium. Light Colored Wallpaper Many of the rules that apply to paint and how it affects the appearance of a room also apply to wallpaper. Light colors will make a room seem larger than it is while dark colors will make a room feel smaller. If you paint a room in light color and keep your furnishings light, the walls will actually appear to recede and the space opens up visually. The same applies to wallpaper. Choose light pastels or neutral colors to visually expand the size of a room.
When you are working in your office and at times when you are completely stressed out, just gazing at one such beautiful picture will relax and unwind you. This is more of a relaxation technique. You can even try this when you have some free time on your hands. Just download a beautiful background for your desktop from any website that you find on the internet, set that as your desktop wallpaper and just look at it for a couple of minutes without doing anything else. You will see to it that your mind becomes blank and thoughtless for a few seconds. After this, when you get back to your work, you will feel fresh and relaxed. Beautiful desktop backgrounds can inspire you in many ways.
Stripping off that old wallpaper Or, "Why did I ever put that up?" Most homes built in the 80s and 90s have wallpaper in them somewhere. I know, because I installed a lot of it in Northwest Arkansas during those years. But, like the hairdos of the 60s, we are ready to put that behind us. So, how do you remove wallpaper? To start with, be assured that what went up can come down. Some of it is just a little more difficult. Do yourself a favor and go to Lowes or The Home Depot and buy a wallpaper steamer. It will cost you about $50.00 to $75.00. This is the secret sauce, the Genie in the Bottle, the magic wand. With this tool, most wallpaper will submit and turn loose the death grip it has on the walls.
Some wallpaper is coming back in style, but it is expensive. And, the more expensive the paper, the more expensive the installation. The sad truth is that as a wallpaper installer, there is no way I am going to install $100.00 a single roll wallpaper for $20.00 bucks. I do not think that wallpaper will ever come back into style or be as popular as it was before. I know, bell bottom pants are back and those colors of the 60s are in, but wallpaper has received the death stroke in my humble opinion. And painted walls are much easier to change than wallpaper. There are some borders with themes on them for kids rooms, but no one carrys wallpaper in stock anymore. Thats a clue. Well, on with the subject at hand. Make this a family project and get as much help as you can. Most rooms can be stripped, textured, primed and painted in 3 to 4 days by the "DIY". Professionals are much faster, so you might consider how much your time is worth. Try not to stress out and just work at a steady pace. No paper tigers!! It is a tool that is on the market that claims to assist in stripping wallpaper. All it does, is damage your walls. Save your money. Use the steps and tools I have mentioned, and you will get the results you want.
